LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Goldman Sachs recalls characters of ‘Trading Places’

In the 1983 movie “Trading Places,” Randolph and Mortimer Duke (played by Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche) are explaining their commodities trading business to Billy Ray Valentine (played by Eddie Murphy).

They explain that their clients bet that commodity prices will rise or they bet that commodity prices will fall. With glee, Mortimer turns to Randolph and urges him to tell Billy Ray the good part.

Randolph says: No matter whether the prices rise or fall, we make money!

Sounds a lot like Goldman Sachs in the mortgage market, doesn’t it?
