LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Brownie wasn’t Bush’s only failed appointee

Now is the time to review the function of the credit ratings firms such as Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s in light of their failure in the financial meltdown. The New York Times’ columnist Paul Krugman suggests the Securities and Exchange Commission, not the issuing firm, should determine which rating agency gets the business.

Christopher Cox, the former head of the SEC who was appointed by George W. Bush, deserves a good word. He did just as good a job running the SEC as Michael Brown (“heckuva job, Brownie”) did running the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He deserves a “heckuva job, Coxie.”

And what about George W. Bush for his astute selection of people to run important departments? He gets one too: Heckuva job, Bushie.
