LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

GOP candidates, once exposed, fall out of favor

Was Johnny Lee’s hit country song, “Looking for love in all the wrong places,” apropos to the Republican Party looking for love in their candidates?

In a desperate move during his run for the presidency, Sen. John McCain selected Alaska Gov. Sarah “Eye Winking” Palin as his vice presidential running mate. Much of the GOP’s true love for Palin vanished.

We now have attractive Sue Lowden, who was the leading GOP candidate to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. It appears after her speculation about bartering for health care, she has fallen into the Palin-oops category.

What about the handsome, rising star Sen. John Ensign to make a run at the GOP presidential nomination? But after Ensign’s antics with his best friend’s wife and payoffs, where has the love gone? Wow, this one really hurts!

We also have Sen. Scott “Playgirl” Brown of Massachusetts, who appears to be losing the love of the Tea Party along with a good portion of his constituents.

Here again, in our state, we have the self-centered Gov. Jim Gibbons. Do I need to elaborate about how much good he hasn’t done for our great state? I believe if the GOP were serious about replacing him they would choose the governor’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Dawn Gibbons, to be their front-running candidate. She’s attractive enough and has the wherewithal to separate herself from the governor. Our governor is also in a state of lost love.
