How desperately do Republicans want Tea Party of Nevada candidate Jon Scott Ashjian off the ballot? Desperately enough for Chuck Muth, the conservative activist, to try to fund the appeal to the state Supreme Court himself. Why? Because this Senate race could be a game of inches. And even though Ashjian has not showed up well in recent polls, it may be just enough to siphon votes from the GOP nominee. The effort may run into problems with federal campaign laws if Muth’s generosity is deemed a campaign contribution. But I doubt he’ll let that scare him — not as much as Republicans are afraid of Ashjian.
