I was privileged Wednesday to be invited to the White House reception after the state dinner for the president of Mexico. I took my teenage daughter, Maddy, for what I hoped would be the experience of a lifetime. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere, the performances (especially by Beyonce) and then the serendipity: We were in the right place at the right time and President Barack Obama walked by us and Maddy got to shake his hand and even share a few words. I would be lying if I didn’t say it was nice to be there. But to see that through your daughter’s eyes: Priceless.
