LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Lowden lacks the political savvy to replace Reid

Sue Lowden’s quest to replace Harry Reid as U.S. senator has shown that she lacks political savvy.

Comedians, as well as the general public, had a field day with her “chickens for checkups” idea. Had she put a spin on the idea and had some fun with it, it would not have been an issue, but when given that opportunity, she instead said she was not backing away from it.

Can you imagine a doctor sitting down with a patient and discussing what the patient has to offer in exchange for treatment? The waiting room would be crowded with patients, doctors, lawyers, etc.

Another lack of political savvy was displayed when she criticized Reid for not getting involved with subcontractors in CityCenter’s dispute with contractors. Lowden somehow did not realize that in making that criticism, she was opening the door on her dispute with subcontractors in the building of her home.

She is attempting to replace a person who has shown plenty of savvy in being the most powerful person in the Senate. If elected, it would be like a high school math teacher replacing Einstein as head of MIT’s math faculty. She should stick to working at the Pioneer Club in Laughlin.
