LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Great Recession looks like a depression

With the unemployment rate at 9.7 percent nationwide and at 13.7 percent for Nevada (along with Las Vegas’ unemployment rate of 14.2 percent), could this be the Great Depression II?

It seems lately the word “Great” appears in front of the word “Recession,” as in the Great Recession, in most of the news reporting.

In spite of the recent announcements that the recession is over, the unemployment numbers seem to be going up. When will it end, and will this economic period ultimately be called the Great Depression II?
