Maybe if we use baseball terms, people will see how foolish it would be to replace Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada with a rookie Republican senator. That majority leader title means that Sen. Reid is the equivalent of a player/manager in baseball.
He runs the team there, while also voting on legislation. We’ve seen such illustrious players as Joe Torre and Frank Robinson be player/managers, and that’s what Harry Reid is in the Senate.
We know that rookie players in baseball or the Senate must prove themselves before they are accepted, and often this process takes years. Replacing a seasoned veteran and leader such as Reid with a rookie? That’s like hitting yourself on the head with a bat.
