Las Vegas Sun

LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Northeast’s frigid pain could work to our advantage

The remarkably cold and snowy weather in the Northeast has finally quieted the constant drumbeat of the media promoting global warming. Surprisingly, the president did not utter the words global warming, climate change or even climate disruption in his State of the Union speech.

Highly respected forecaster Joe Bastardi of AccuWeather stated this month that it’s likely that the weather will be turning cooler for the next 20 to 30 years due to natural cooling in the Pacific Ocean and perhaps because of the changes the sun is currently undergoing.

My thought is this: Here in Las Vegas we have lots of great homes, currently very well priced. Retirees are the very best residents; they bring their own money, don’t have kids to educate and aren’t much into crime. Our weather, on the whole, is far better than the rest of the country, especially compared with the Northeast winters.

Let’s see if the governor and the Legislature can agree to devote more of our hard-earned tax money to promote our state and bring Northeastern retirees to Southern Nevada. It would truly be a terrific investment and a win for all.
