J. Patrick Coolican’s piece on UNLV was one of the most rational and articulate on the subject I can remember.
The word “education” comes from the Latin “ex duco,” “to lead out.”
His cogent observations crystallized for me the erroneous assumptions and practices that led to improper priorities, objectives and, sadly, results.
Each of us brings to life everything we have.
It’s not what we put in.
It’s what is led out.
