letter to the editor:

Congress is no better than we are

In his column Friday, “Congress evading Obamacare coverage?,” Glenn Garvin points out how Congress can pass laws that affect everyone but themselves. He then discusses the history of Obamacare and how Congress had to include Sen. Chuck Grassley’s amendment, which would subject Congress to Obamacare.

We elect members of Congress to represent us. They should not throw us to the wolves and represent themselves.

Why not require that any laws passed by our Congress, that exempt Congress members, be voted on by the public? Since this would only affect a few laws, it would not be difficult to implement. This would discourage laws of this nature from being submitted and passed by Congress because the people would have time to review the laws and reject it.

We must stop Congress from exempting themselves from laws that they pass which affect the rest of us.
