Regarding Ray Brewer’s recent column, “Hoping Cashman Field’s days are numbered for greener pastures in Summerlin”:

I have to disagree with Brewer on several points. I think downtown’s reputation is undeserved. I have been going to games at Cashman Field for more than 25 years, often taking my visibly handicapped youngest sister and have never had a problem. I have walked to Cashman Field from the old downtown Transportation Center before and walked back after, still without a hint of possible trouble.

I would much rather go to games at Cashman Field when the temperature is approaching 120 degrees than when it’s 70 degrees or cooler. One hundred degrees is not much above body core temperature and is quite comfortable.

Athletes know better than anyone to drink water and avoid alcohol when it’s 100 degrees outside. I’d much rather pay $3 for a soda than $1 for a beer.
