Regarding the issue of motorcycle “lane splitting,” which came before the Legislature:

As a driver in California for well over 40 years, I would ask that people think long and hard on the subject of letting motorcyclists split the lanes.

If you are sitting at an intersection side by side with another automobile and a motorcycle pulls up between the two vehicles, then you have to wait for that motorcyclist to accelerate away before you can safely proceed. Motorcycles do not start in a straight line in most cases.

I can see the aggressive drivers in Nevada having the potential for road rage or accidents like those that happen all too often in California.

It is not a fix to “help” the minority of motorcyclists (of which I am one) and put the majority of four-wheel vehicles at peril of either an accident or a slower commute.
