Boost in teaching pay not a raise

The Las Vegas media and the Clark County School District are claiming that teachers are receiving a 1 percent raise for the 2013-2014 school year.

Teacher salaries were reduced by 1 percent in June 2013, so how is this a raise? If your boss reduces your pay by 1 percent and then gives it back to you a few months later, are you going to be excited about your raise?

If someone takes your car for three months and then gives it back to you, does that mean they gave you a car?

Teachers haven’t had a cost-of-living raise in six years! If small businesses are hurting, it’s because big businesses and the out-of-state gold companies are not paying their fair share for the infrastructure they benefit from.
