letter to the editor:

Do what the officer tells you to do

I don’t agree with many of the police department’s tactics, methods and judgments at times.

However, if a police officer orders anyone (man, woman or child) to “put your hands up,” do it and don’t say anything until you are asked to do so.

If your hands are not up and visible to an officer when it’s been ordered, you can expect something bad to happen.

An officer doesn’t want to hear, “I didn’t do anything,” or “I was just shopping,” or anything else.

Anyone who doesn’t comply is simply looking for trouble.
