Police already have a tough job

What a great idea! Arm everybody! Then you hear about the police shootings and other complaints against the police department. Really? If I choose not to carry a gun, can I carry a sword?

Understand! Police officers are regular people with families who like to see them come home from work in one piece and maybe in a good mood once in a while. What other professional has to put on a bulletproof vest for work?

The media should run the photos of gunshot victims, and maybe some of these cold-hearted, gun-crazy people would get it. You can shoot off your mouth about freedom when these sad events don’t visit you or your family members.

I speak to this after being on the job with a Midwest police department for a number of years.
