Letter to the editor:

Tea Party stance is anti-senior citizen

Trying to figure out the Tea Party rhetoric is very confusing.

They rant that the government is too big, yet they do not want to cut their benefits — but are willing to take the food out of poor children’s mouths.

They are also very willing to cut education benefits that may also hurt the ability of their offspring to ever become anything but a burger flipper.

I am a senior who paid heavily into Social Security for my benefits.

We seniors should band together and demand that the Republican Party pay back the benefits it raided from our Social Security treasure chest to pay for wars and tax relief for the wealthy.

They scream to do away with the IRS. Why? Do they wish to fatten the pockets of the rich more than what they now are? The small amount they pay to the IRS would be much less if the corporations and the wealthy paid their fair share rather than concealing their assets in foreign hideaways.

I was a Republican and voted for President Ronald Reagan; history proves to me that it was the greatest mistake I ever made. Reagan started the revolution that gives to the wealthy and takes away from the poor and middle class.

Is this truly what the Tea Party seniors are rooting for, or is it just the fact that they liked being ripped off by the billionaire health care insurers that may be the major reason we middle class folks are headed for poverty?

I suggest if you are a middle-class senior, open your eyes to reality.
