Recycling has been an issue of topic since the great fear of global warming was introduced. Americans waste tons of trash a year when so much of it can be reused again. I find the 75 percent recycling goal to be very noble and doable.
I believe it was 10 years or so ago when Republic Services signed a 35-year contract with the county to be the main trash contractor and it specified a two-day-a-week pickup of trash. Republic is now trying to change the terms of the contract to one day of trash pickup and one day recycling pickup. I believe if their small studies work in their favor and their proposal goes well with the county, then we shall have no problem hitting the 75 percent margin for recycling.
