letter to the editor:

People don’t know what Obamacare is

The biggest problem with the Affordable Care Act seems to be a lack of publicity. In poll after poll, respondents feel that they don’t yet know enough about it, but they overwhelmingly support the specific provisions.

Jimmy Kimmel recently asked people on the street if they preferred the ACA or Obamacare. The majority of those asked liked the ACA better and were shocked to learn that it’s the same as Obamacare.

The Republican-led House has voted more than 40 times to repeal the ACA. They keep saying that Americans are opposed to the law. Polls, however, show that Americans are not opposed to the provisions contained within the law.

If Republicans truly believe that the law is a disaster, they should stop trying to repeal it and let the public decide. If the law is a failure, the GOP ends up looking like the good guys for trying to end it. One can’t help but think, though, that the Republicans are afraid that the public will end up liking the ACA.
