Letter to the editor:

Immigration reform and church

The sources quoted in the Oct. 20 article, “Immigration-reform supporters urge Las Vegas’ Catholic Church hierarchy: Speak up publicly, speak out publicly,” criticize Bishop Joseph Pepe for not being vocal when it comes to immigration reform.

Many Roman Catholic businesspeople in Southern Nevada generally support immigration reform in some form.

Whatever the bishop’s reasons are for his approach to this issue, I support him.

There is no need for the church to step into a dispute which many times ends up being a union-organizing tool and not just a social/political/legal issue.
