Letter to the editor:

What really is un-American?

I finally agree with Republicans about something.

Jim DeMint recently said that Obamacare is un-American, and I agree. Obamacare is more Canadian-like.

If it were more American-like, it would continue to let 45,000 uninsured people die from lack of medical attention each year. It would make more people go bankrupt from medical bills, and more people would be excluded from health care if they were poor or couldn’t afford it.

After all, why should you live if you don’t have enough money to purchase expensive health care insurance?

Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, unemployment insurance — all of them and more are also un-American.

After all, if you worked all of your life at places like fast-food restaurants and other low-paying jobs, and didn’t save enough money to take care of yourself in your old age, you shouldn’t be able to draw Social Security and Medicare, either.

That’s also un-American; that’s — gasp — socialism.
