letter to the editor:

Who else can do what US does?

I am a 23-year resident of Las Vegas who has recently moved to Saudi Arabia for a two-year job commitment. I have no clear answer to the Syria issue. It is far too complex. What is really happening on the ground? What can we really get done?

Will air support make a difference? Will we have to have boots on the ground? Is it the same as Vietnam, Iraq, etc.? What I have learned is this: Countries and citizens around the world really do see us as the leader. They hope and expect us to give them hope and support. There is no one else.

Who else will set the standard for Egypt? Who else will help Syria? I don’t feel we can just say no without some real consideration. I am thankful I am not President Barack Obama. I can’t imagine how difficult the decision is. All sides of the issue must be considered. Simplistic answers are not going to work.
