A couple of articles celebrating Jerry Tarkanian’s admission to the Basketball Hall of Fame pointed out his greatest achievement here in Las Vegas. The Kats Report in the Sept. 10 Sun quoted Jimmy Kimmel: “The Rebels gave us (Las Vegas) an identity beyond (being ‘for the amusement of other people’), and I think he really deserves a lot of credit for bring Las Vegas together as a community.”
Las Vegas was never so united as during the Tarkanian era, which brought together people from all walks of life in a way that had never happened before and will never happen again. Jerry Tarkanian was truly an unprecedented unifying spirit who will never be forgotten.
