letter to the editor:

California water plan isn’t realistic

I find it amazing that residents of Nevada think we are going to pump water from the ocean to Las Vegas. All ideas on desalination have been where California desalinates the water and we help pay for it. They then sell part of their allotment of water from the Colorado to us. Of course that means the farmers in the Imperial Valley have to give up the water rights given to them in the ’20s. They realize that once they do that, they will never get the rights back.

We could help them become more water efficient in farming and then buy their rights, but that is not going to happen either for the same reason.

To think that Nevada is going to go to California and start a desalination plant and pump the water here is not being realistic.
