letter to the editor:

Lawmakers, act on gun violence

Nothing will be done about guns because the problem does not touch the people who should deal with it. Some elected officials are above all the problems and look down on poor Americans who want to live a safe and rewarding life.

They don’t care about the poor sap who has to work a job behind a counter in a store or about the senior citizen living a quiet life in a suburb. Nor do they care about someone else’s children in a school. Really? Teachers with guns? Having to carry a gun in a playground? Guns in bars? Lose a friend, wife, husband or child and see how you feel about people carrying guns.

The lawmakers couldn’t care less about kids in school or anyone else who is unable to defend themselves. They bow down to the NRA because of the big bucks the organization provides to get elected. It is always the peaceful-living people who get shot. These are the people who want to get something done — and now. Not after more school shootings!
