I really enjoy reading the Sun every day, especially some of your specialty items, like the photo page about the “Big Boy” steam locomotive. Especially for an 85-year-old who remembers his boyhood days, when I’d ride out on horseback to check on our cattle that were spread out over 350 acres. I’d see a speeding train approaching from a distance right next to our fence.
My horse, Peanuts, was big and fast and loved to give chase every time I let her.
The people looking out the windows loved to watch her run and waved encouragement as I edged her on and waved back to them.
Even the engineer would wave to me and give me a couple of blasts of his whistle. Those days are worth remembering, and I thank you for that page.
