Letter to the editor:

Pruitt shouldn’t lead the EPA

Scott Pruitt, whom President Donald Trump has nominated for Environmental Protection Agency administrator, has proven himself to be no more than a shill for the oil and gas industry and a climate-change denier. As Oklahoma attorney general, he has done the industry’s bidding by suing the EPA on numerous occasions over common-sense safeguards to protect public health, such as the Clean Water Rule and Clean Power Plan.

Pruitt’s positions are copied and pasted from fossil-fuel interests  —  he has sent letters to federal officials that were almost entirely written by oil and gas lobbyists. Pruitt has made it his career goal to protect fossil-fuel industry profits, and he has no place running the EPA.

Our elected officials, including Sen. Dean Heller, need to listen to their constituents and vote no on Pruitt’s nomination to lead the EPA.
