Letters to the Editor:

EPA cuts are a long-term threat

We must not allow President Donald Trump to cripple the Environmental Protection Agency. I acknowledge that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and the administration denies the validity of the impact of the environment on American’s quality of life, health and well-being, but they are ill-informed and naive.

As a veteran and health care professional with over 45 years of experience, I have cared for veterans, children and adults with respiratory and horrific skin conditions, watching the incidence of these problems soar over the decades. We all need to be concerned for our children and future generations.

One cogent example is the skyrocketing incidence of prostate cancer among males. Given the proposed cutbacks in reproductive preventive health, I pray that common sense will prevail.

Women’s health aside, the preponderance of males in Congress simply needs to take a look below the belt and go, “Hmmmmmm.”

I urge Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., to stand up and do the right thing. Stop this debacle before it’s too late. Oppose President Trump’s proposed cuts.
