Chaparral won its second straight game Thursday night, even though it wasn’t the prettiest performance.

The Cowboys defeated Desert Oasis 28-7 by coming on in the second half following a lackadaisical start. They were tied with the winless Diamondbacks at halftime before committing to their ground game in the final two quarters.

Sophomore Sheik Fofanah sparked the surge by scoring two touchdowns and picking up 85 yards on only seven carries. Senior Tyray Collins also had a few long runs in finishing with 68 yards and a touchdown on 11 rushing attempts.

Chaparral now sits at 5-1 on the season going into an all-important Class 3A Sunrise League showdown with Moapa Valley next week.
