The debate over renewable energy shouldn’t be about solar and wind farms versus the environment. Instead, we would be better off focusing on renewable energy farms versus the combination of rooftop solar and microgrids.
That particular combination ends up being extremely resilient and cost effective. According to Business Insider, replacing our aging electric grid could cost $5 trillion. Add to that the ability to control your own energy system and it’s a no-brainer.
The technology already exists. Now, we need the political will to open this up for discussion.
