LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Letter: ‘Yes on 3’ ad is misleading

I found an ad for “Yes on 3” interesting.

First of all, it shows a coal mine, but very little coal is used by NV Energy.

Secondly, it implies that NV Energy raises rates whenever it wants, even though the utility has to go before the Nevada Public Utilities Commission to get approval before any increases are enacted, and the public has the right to go to those meetings.

It also implies that all of the other energy-choice states have had a 14 percent decrease in rates, when only a few of the states have had a decrease.

The ad also does not address the fact that if approved, there is no way Nevada can regulate all these new companies and control any increases.

Before voting, study all the facts on both sides.
