The Dec. 10 story “Greenhouse gas emissions rise like a ‘speeding freight train’ in 2018” does not mention the fact that SUVs are classified as trucks and therefore do not have to meet the corporate average fuel economy standards of cars.
These monsters, with their weight, high profile, fat tires, etc., are not trucks, but overgrown people carriers. Why don’t you and The New York Times lobby against this glaring hole in the quest for lower emissions?
