The May 24 editorial “As Trump-fueled hate crimes flare, here’s how to help put out the fire” slams President Donald Trump as racist and anti-immigrant. It claims that racist incidents are fueled by Trump and then goes on to give isolated examples in Michigan, Colorado and New York.
It doesn’t give any examples of statements from Trump. The editorial makes it seem like this is a dark time in America for race relations. I see the opposite: There are more interracial marriages than ever before, and black unemployment is the lowest it’s been in 10 years.
I don’t think Trump has a racist bone in his body. When someone says he is against illegal immigration, that is completely different than saying he is against all immigrants. If people want to come into the country, there is a process to enter — that is called legal immigration.
