Although I rarely agree with the Sun’s political views, I frequently find myself absorbed in the marvelous human interest stories often found in your paper. The May 16 article “Living Apart Together,” was a prime example, so relevant and so superbly crafted that I can’t wait to share it with my friends — single, divorced or widowed — who have shared the same thoughts during our weekly Friday morning breakfast conversations.
It certainly helps break through the stigma often associated with the older generation’s rightful search for intimacy and companionship without the necessity of marriage, especially among those of us in our later years who were raised to believe that doing so was “sinful and against all ethical rules.” It’s nice to see that compassion and acceptance of this true human need may have finally won the day.
