Virgin Valley moved to 2-0 on the season by grinding out a 20-0 win over Pahrump.

Senior running back Wyatt Delano put the Bulldogs on the board in the second quarter with a touchdown run, and sophomore quarterback Kyler Sudweeks followed with a TD run of his own on the ensuing possession to make it 12-0.

Late in the third quarter, the Virgin Valley defense put the game away for good. Pahrump was pinned on its own goal line and called a running play to try to create some breathing room. But Virgin Valley’s defensive line collapsed the play, and senior safety Tanner Fielding shot into the backfield to hit the running back and force a fumble.

Fielding recovered the ball in the end zone to make it 20-0.

Virgin Valley coach Matt Woods was happy with the way his team slugged it out in the trenches.

“Pahrump is a very physical team,” Woods said, “which meant we had to play physical to compete. And we did. Our offensive and defensive line were great. It was another good test for us and we played a good, physical game.”

Fielding finished with eight tackles, two sacks and the game-sealing touchdown.

“Tanner had a great defensive game,” Woods said. “Just a great all-around game."

Delano finished with 103 rushing yards on eight carries. Sudweeks completed 10-of-13 passes for 85 yards.
