A sad experience is occurring over and over by a vulnerable segment of our community, namely at grocery stores: a shortage of or complete absence of electric shopping carts.
When I asked about this, the No. 1 reason given was theft. Somebody stole the carts, which can cost thousands of dollars. The stores try to provide these services but succumb to the costs of these crimes.
I cannot shop stores without these carts, but I cannot afford or get assistance for a scooter of my own. While this limits many activities I can participate in, being unable to provide for my own basic household needs shouldn’t be one of them.
