I am concerned about the egregious act against Nevada by the federal government. Energy Secretary Rick Perry and U.S. Department of Energy are putting the lives of millions of Nevadans in jeopardy.
To transport nuclear waste to Yucca Mountain, it was likely moved secretly through the center of Las Vegas. This put my family, loved ones and the majority of Nevada’s population at risk to be exposed to weapons-grade nuclear material.
I understand the repercussions of carelessly moving nuclear waste through Las Vegas could have on low-income families and communities of color. This is unacceptable, and I refuse to stay silent as the Department of Energy makes Nevada a dumping ground for the rest of the nation’s nuclear waste.
