Letter to the editor:

What can we blame on Biden?

I find it disingenuous and rather lacking in intelligent thought to send letters to the editor blaming President Joe Biden for inflation and high gas prices.

A little research would easily find that inflation is even higher in many other countries, and gas prices have jumped dramatically in most industrialized countries.

I’m sure Republicans would like to blame Biden for anything and everything they don’t like, but supply and demand, the pandemic, and congestion at our ports are the major causes of our present problems.

Demand dropped dramatically in 2020 and 2021, and jumped sharply in 2022 with more people working, driving and traveling. Fuel consumption increased faster than refineries could increase production. Consumer products coming from overseas came in at higher rate than our ports could process and ship.

Ramping up to meet a much higher demand takes time. If you want to blame Biden for something, blame him for slowing the spread of COVID-19, a lower unemployment rate, and getting money in the pockets of families so they could pay their rent, eat, and go back to school.
