I agree with Los Angeles Times columnist Nicholas Goldberg’s call for civility in his column published Feb. 8, “Is civility really passé in American politics?”
But I must take Goldberg to task for something he should have led with, rather than burying it where few will see it:
That this is primarily a Republican Problem.
The bothsiderism of many in the media leads to a false equivalence being perpetuated in the country at large. Those who claim to be independents are most guilty of having bought into the narrative and need to be vigorously disabused of that notion.
Goldberg should have led by explaining where most of the blame lies, and at the conclusion pointed out that while the far left has unbending extremists, none have elected representation in Congress, nor have any been elected to the White House.
