LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Don’t let Putin starve the world

The world has been in an extended drought now for several years. Compounding this, Vladimir Putin has gone on a tear to increase his world influence in the worst way by attacking his peaceful neighbor, Ukraine.

Ukraine is known as the breadbasket of the world, and ordinarily provides much needed food. Putin has put a stop to farming and, whether or not he realizes it, is setting up the world for mass starvation.

The world is holding back on taking major action to stop Putin due to fear of his nuclear war. As awful as it was to drop nuclear bombs on Japan, our firebombing was killing just as many people. But it took the sudden large bombs to bring leaders to the table. After the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan could start farming in the unspoiled area and save the country from starvation.

We should take this approach with Putin and if he doesn’t back off like Nikita Khrushchev did at the Cuban missile crisis, use precision bombing to help him understand that nobody needs world starvation.
