I listened with disgust at the words of the former vice president of the United States in his recent television interview.
What did Mike Pence think he was going to be asked? He was certainly not prepared to hear his own words played back to him as he told Donald Trump’s supporters that somehow the truth of the illegal election of 2020 was going to come out Jan. 6.
Perhaps he could not be prepared, for it was clear that Pence had supported Trump’s lie in public right up to Jan. 6, even after the attorney general refused to support that lie. Was Pence really that surprised that both Trump and his supporters would treat him as a traitor?
A lie eventually catches up to anyone who utters one. For Pence, that day was Jan. 6, 2021. There is simply no way that man can get around the fact that he was willing to support the president’s lie until he would have to break his own oath of office in full view of the rest of the American people. A hero? Hardly.
