Shoppers can make this holiday season a compassionate one by buying only vegan clothing and accessories.
Labels like “humane wool” sound reassuring, but they are deceptive. Gentle sheep are shorn rough and fast for their wool, leaving them cut open and bleeding while workers stand on them. Sensitive goats are pinned down and their hair is torn out with sharp metal combs for cashmere. And cows are branded and their tails removed without painkillers for leather. Once they’re worn out, they’re trucked to slaughterhouses, where their throats are slit and their bodies dismembered.
