It’s beginning to look like 1944 all over again, and for those unfamiliar with American history, that was the year President Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected to a fourth term.
He had seen our country through not only the Great Depression but a war against a dictator whose lust for power put our own democracy at risk.
So, although the president was obviously ailing and looking much older than his 63 years, the voters stuck with him — unwilling to make a change simply for the sake of change.
The 2024 election is shaping up to be strikingly similar.
For one thing, we have a Democratic incumbent who inherited a crisis brought on by a Republican administration that mishandled the economy.
To make matters worse, our current leader is engaged in a war for our freedom against an authoritarian figure who puts his own selfish interests ahead of his nation’s needs.
Will the voters rise up and reward President Joe Biden for his efforts to safeguard our democratic principles, despite his age and bumbling nature?
More importantly, will enough voters recognize in time that the greatest danger to our future isn’t in their support of anaging politician but in putting too much faith in a man who’s incapable of being a faithful servant to the rule of law.
