A Metro Police officer is in stable condition after being stabbed early this morning in northeast Las Vegas while responding to a domestic disturbance, officials said.
The suspect in the stabbing was subsequently shot and killed by police, they said.
Officers around 1 a.m. responded to a call in the 3600 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard where they made contact with the suspect, officials said. Shortly afterward, the suspect stabbed one of the officers with a sharp weapon, prompting the accompanying officer to shoot the suspect, officials said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said in a morning news briefing.
The officer who was stabbed was transported to University Medical Center and is expected to be released later today.
