LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Stark contrast in presidents

I’m amazed by the statements of former President Donald Trump, prominent Republicans in the U.S. government and Republican voters who claim that by indicting Trump on 37 counts involving classified documents, President Joe Biden is “weaponizing” the justice system.

First, unlike Trump, there is no evidence that Biden has directed the Justice Department or that the department has done anything wrong by investigating this matter for more than a year. It issued more than a 40-page indictment clearly laying out detailed charges.

Compare this to the Trump administration’s relationship with former Attorney General William Barr who did Trump’s bidding by undercutting the Mueller Report. We should also remember Trump’s treatment of former FBI Director James Comey and Trump’s efforts to extort false information from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to smear Biden.

Biden won the 2020 presidential election despite his age being viciously attacked by Trump. Since then, Biden has strenuously maintained a fair justice system while Trump has been indicted for multiple crimes as well as being held liable for sexual assault.

Do you want a president who fully recognizes that no man is above the law, or an autocratic crook?
