Tragedies like the train wreck in Ohio are not an accident, they are the result of deregulation. The Republican Party has only two policies it cares about: tax cuts for the rich and deregulation to increase corporate profits. The No. 1 responsibility of our government is to make the American people more safe, yet the Republican party does just the opposite.
Deregulation lets corporations exploit workers, injure consumers, cheat investors and pollute the environment. If we want to reduce those harms, we need to overturn the ruling in the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission case, and lobbying that allows corporations to purchase politicians and pass these deregulations, often in the dark of night.
