All you have to do is use Google to check the number of hospitals, businesses and infrastructure that have been hacked by outside sources, ransomware and the like, every day, infecting our systems, from outside countries — and none have anything to do with TikTok.
Why are senators talking about blocking TikTok? Some Democrats owe their seats to TikTok and the voices — Gen-Z, the BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities — that are platformed on it. But listening to them talk about getting rid of TikTok, while many of their constituents are getting, sharing and waking the community using TikTok, show they’re not as aware as they think.
There is no evidence that TikTok has threatened this country. I learned from TikTok about the inhumane treatment of women by the Islamic regime long before news agencies mentioned anything. We get live reports from soldiers in Ukraine from TikTok. Do you think China would allow either if it wanted to keep that news silent?
TikTok is where many people get much of their news and share their thoughts. In the past year, I have never detected anything scrupulous or dangerous on the app. Fox News is much more dangerous.
Senators should focus on the ransomware, elder ripoff scams and threats we dodge daily basis from other countries and within our own.
We’re not stupid. If we see anything harmful, we’ll let them know, and it most likely will be detected and reported extensively on its own app before China decides to shut it down.
