LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Get a grip on drunks in the air

I know the odds of seeing a snake on a plane are very low. But the odds of seeing a drunk on a plane are very high. Almost daily, we read and hear stories of passengers getting out of hand and being so disruptive that a flight has to be diverted to another airport to get rid of the problem, and in some cases, fellow passengers wind up injured.

Many of these drunken passengers are already three sheets to the wind before boarding. I would suggest the gate agents have breathalyzers and check each passenger as they board. Those already over the legal limit should be denied boarding. Maybe it’s time that airlines just stop serving alcohol, or at least only serve one per person.

I also believe that if a passenger causes delays for fellow passengers, their name should be given out so those who were delayed can sue them for time and money lost.
