Letter to the Editor:

Dual viewpoints benefit readers

It’s easy to see why the Las Vegas Review-Journal wants to end its joint operating agreement with the Las Vegas Sun.

I’ve lived in Las Vegas for five years and have been a subscriber for the entire time. I’ve always felt the R-J did a good job of reporting the news on its pages and at the same time enjoyed the differing articles and editorials of the Sun.

It’s obvious the left-leaning Sun is in direct opposition to the mainly right-leaning R-J, and that’s a good thing. Instead of relying on political pundits taking pot shots at each other to study issues, we have two quality news outlets with excellent writers.

When I get my daily, I see one professionally developed news product offering different ideas that I can ponder and make constructive decisions.

Let’s keep the lines of communication open; despite what side you’re on, isn’t that what freedom of the press and America are supposed to be about?
