LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Build an airport deserving of Vegas

Initially, I was excited to hear about plans for a new airport, as I have thought about one since I have moved here. However, my excitement was tempered quickly when I heard about the limited vision — only 2 runways — for such expensive infrastructure. I view Las Vegas as a world-class city.

Looking at airports in places such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo and even Zurich, it’s clear that they have invested in infrastructure that went beyond the basics. They prioritized innovation, efficiency and a great passenger/customer experience.

I urge people to think bigger and adopt a more forward-thinking approach when planning our new airport. A minimum of four well-supported runways, coupled with modern technology and passenger conveniences, should be essential components of this project.

Additionally, building a bullet train system to connect the airport to the Strip would enhance accessibility and alleviate congestion, positioning Las Vegas as a premier global gateway.

It has been proven many times over that building a great and attractive airport brings in more visitors and stimulates the economy.

We need to think bigger, Las Vegas.
